Chpt 2.10: Opposite Siblings

Corwin’s transition to teenager was marked by a small birthday party.

His aging only brought him closer to his little sister and her admiration for him grew.

As Carrie aged she became a very good child.

She often had urges to give to charities. How could Burton and Rena say no when she only asked for money for others? The glow it gave her to donate was worth the cost.

Corwin often took his little sister to the park. He had made a best friend of his good little sister.

Whenever he was around this good little girl, his mean-spirited-ness was tamed and he couldn’t help but be happy.

Chpt 2.9: Goodbye Azure

Now that Corwin no longer needs his crib, an extension was added to the house to give him his own room.

The nursery now belonged to little Carrie, who looks like Rena just as much as Corwin looks like Burton.

Though Azure lived longer than expected (over 100 days!) it was still her time to go.

Often Burton feared Azure’s death was hardest on Corwin as he can usually be found arguing quite angrily with himself.

Rena feared her writing would be put on hold when she broke her computer.

But Burton came home the next day announcing a new promotion to Sketch Artist and bringing her a new laptop!

Along with more money, Burton can apprehend burglars that come to steal his wife’s new present.

The house seems empty without Azure but still busy with two children.

Chpt 2.8: Birthdays

Soon after their date, Rena had news for Burton. She was pregnant again. She was unsure how Burton would feel but he was thrilled for a new baby.

Rena couldn’t help but wonder how her little baby would feel when a new little baby came?

Corwin’s toddler years were over and he had a small party with his family.

The part was quickly disrupted by Rena as she went into labour.

The second birthday of the night was for a new baby girl, Carrie.

Though Corwin looked more and more like his father everyday, he was very unlike him personality wise.

The mean spirited little boy was disgusted that his party was interupted by Rena and this new baby. Yuck.

Chpt 2.7: Remembering

Just looking at Corwin made Azure feel like she was 20 again. She could forget her creaking bones and wrinkles when she looked into those purple eyes.

But she still knew she was a long way from where she started. She was now The top of the criminal career track. The head of Riverview’s crime syndicate.

In the morning, Burton was immediately sorry for how he’d spoken to Rena the night before.

“I’m sorry. I’ll make it up to you.”

“I promise.”

That night Burton took Rena to the bistro where they’d had their first date and to the movies after.

Rena remembered the man she fell in love with.

She was proud again to be his wife.

Chpt 2.6: Forgotten Mother

As life settled into a routine with the new baby, Rena found herself alone a lot more than before. She cooked meals that she often ate alone.

She was thankful for Corwin’s company but life became lonely with only a baby to keep you company.

Rena longed for the times when Burton would happily hold her hand and tell her he loved her.

Before Rena realized it, she felt old and tired and had a toddler that barely knew his father. She barely knew her husband anymore.

She had to say something. When she brought it up with Burton after he got home from work, she was attacked.

“I work all day while you sit around here doing nothing and you think you can accuse me of being a bad father and husband?”

“I didn’t mean it like that…I just miss you.”

Chpt 2.5: Oh Baby

Azure congratulated her son on the new baby but her mood changed as soon as she had Rena alone.

“How can you even think of having my grandchild before you marry my son? Are you planning on leaving? A quick escape without too many ties?”

Rena was scared of Azure. She had power over Burton. What if she started telling Burton she was going to leave him? She didn’t tell Burton about the threats but that night she mentioned the wedding.

Burton had been so focused on his career he had been putting off officially getting married. But there was no reason to now. He took Rena to the park the next day for a private wedding.

With the money from Burton’s last promotion to Patrol Officer, they added onto the house. Rena spent her days reading everything she could find on pregnancy while enjoying the new nursery.

Eventually the time came. The baby was on its way.

The new addition to the family was a baby boy named Corwin. Corwin Shade.

Chpt 2.4: Big News

Burton was thrilled to be earning his own money and coming home to a beautiful woman every day.

He decided the money he’d been earning should go towards an office for Rena so she could start pursuing her lifetime goal to be an illustrous author. He painted it her favourite colour. Pink.

Rena was thrilled. She could not wait to get started on a novel. She started a science fiction called “The Blue Mother-In-Law”.

Not long after being surprised by her very own office, Rena had a surprise for Burton. A baby.

Burton could not believe he may soon be raising a child of his own. He had more to work for than ever now.

Burton was thrilled to tell Azure next. How amazed would she be. A grandchild of her own! Rena was less than eager to tell her Mother-in-Law but she hid her fear for Burton’s sake. How will Azure feel about this new addition to the house?

Chpt 2.3: Moving In

Very soon after Rena joined the household Burton took her on a date to the place they’d met, the small playground with a chess table. Bending to one knee he proposed engagement. Rena was shocked since it was so soon.

But how could she say no? This man had given her his home and is now offering his life. She, of course, said yes.

Burton went to work the next morning with a grin on his face. He had a fiancee! Rena stayed home with Azure and was quickly being threatened.

“I’m Burton’s mother and no woman can ever replace that. If you ever try to take my son away from me, I assure you, you will lose.”

As quick as the anger had come to Azure’s face, it was gone. The day went on as normal as if nothing had ever happened. Burton came home from work cheerful and Rena was unsure if she should say anything at all.

Rena lay awake that night in her new bed with her new fiancee wondering what she’d gotten herself into. Would there be more of the same threats? Should she say anything to Burton? How long would this old woman live…

Chpt 2.2: Home for Rena

Though Burton was afraid of Rena’s reaction to Azure, he had no reason to be. The meeting was very pleasant. Rena had heard of Azure in gossip around town but decided not to judge her before she met her.

Burton was so pleased that the two women he loved got along so well that he asked Rena to go steady with him. He told her she should start packing because soon he’d have a respectable place for her to live. He had a few things to do first.

Burton scoured the papers for the job that would start his life long dream to be at the top of the law enforcement career.

And he had an addition added to the house turning Azure’s small room into the new master bedroom with a double bed. The house was still small but now it was suitable for his beautiful girlfriend.

He showed Rena the addition to his home and told her it could be her home too if she’d like. She no longer had to stay in the apartment with 3 other girls. She could have the peace and quiet of her own home, even if it was small.

Rena was excited to hear about Burton’s new job and the renovations. The fact that he’d go to all that trouble just for her made her feel like a princess. Yes! Yes, she’d love to move in.

Chpt 2.1: First Love

Even as an adult Burton still frequents the chess table at the playground. Lately he’s found himself going not just to play, but to play with a certain woman, Rena Pearson. He’s losing a lot of games lately because he can’t keep his eyes off her.

Rena has been playing chess with Burton since he was just a child. She knows he’s younger than her but she also realizes he is no longer a kid. She can’t help notice how much he’s changed.

Rena moved to Riverview to find a quite town to write her novels in. Her lifetime wish is to become a proffesional author but right now she finds herself renting a house with 3 other girls and with no books accepted by any publishers.

Burton is attracted to her flirty and excitable personality and finally asks her out for lunch at the bistro.

Burton knows he’s much younger than Rena but his brave personality takes over and he has to confess how attracted he is to her.

Rena can’t believe that this handsome young man could have fallen for her; a woman with a failed dream and an empty pocket book. Though his initial advances seem successful, Burton is afraid that once Rena meets Azure she will change her mind. It’s the first time Burton has been ashamed of his mother. He takes Rena to his small home.

Rena assures him that anywhere or anyone that Burton has to show her won’t change how she feels. She’s fallen in love with Burton for who he is, not for the things he has.
